Travel Arrangements

If you are travelling to Gdańsk airport. Gdańsk airport is approximately 15 kilometres away from your yacht in Przystań Cesarska in the very centre of Gdańsk. You could either order a taxi from the airport to Przystań Cesarska at approximately 30 Euro or you can arrange the airport collection with us at 30 Euro. That will have to be done with advice giving us the time of your arrival. There are buses and trains form Gdańsk airport to the centre of Gdańsk.

If you choose the collection by the school, after leaving the airport building, you will meet one of our representatives at the drop off parking at Departures. They will be holding a Sailpro School of Yachting sign. The journey from the airport is approximately 25-55 minutes depending on the time of the day and traffic congestion. Transfers by taxi are payable direct to the driver. If you are making your own way here from elsewhere, please let us know your travel arrangements at least 2 weeks in advance of your arrival so that we can ensure the yacht is prepared. My Arrival

Upon your arrival, you will meet your Instructor or Filip from Premium Yachting in Przystań Cesarska at the SAILPRO School of Yachting & Premium Yachting’s office containers which are clearly signed and easy to locate. You have all the contact details above and if you need to contact us, please feel free to do so. You will be taken to the yacht and shown around the Marina facilities.

If you arrive early bags can be left on the yacht or at the office at Przystań Cesarska.

Course times and accommodation arrangements

All our courses start at 0930 on the date advertised. You may choose to stay onboard of the vessel prior to your course at additional cost of 25 Euro. It may be possible to arrive more than 1 day prior to the course if you wish to take a break and explore the beautiful Gdańsk and surroundings, please ask the school if it’s possible to stay on the yacht if you wish so. We also assist with arranging accommodation in Gdańsk if you wish to arrive with a family or friends or just wish to spend more time here prior to the course or maybe have your family or children while you are doing the course with us here.

All our courses finish at 1800 on the last day advertised. Note, you will be asked to leave your boat tidy, sails folded, deck clean after your course, which may take a little longer. We believe that looking after the yacht, learning to tidy the yacht, flake sails etc. is as important part of your course as learning to sail.

What to bring

Your training yacht will be comfortable and equipped with all necessary safety equipment, waterproofs, bedding and towels. For your comfort please bring sensible comfortable clothing. Hard suitcases cannot be stored on board so please pack your clothes in a soft holdall. 

Please note: A passport size photo (with your name on the back) is required for the Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper Certificates.  Certificates cannot be issued without this. 

In addition to your usual clothing we recommend packing:

Sunglasses,

Passport

Quick dry trousers for sailing (not jeans)

Sun cream

Deck shoes or soft soled trainers

Sun hat / cap

Polish zlotys

Personal medicines

Toiletries

Clothing for trips ashore

Long sleeve top (sun protection) 

Please note that in the winter and at times in the summer months it can still get cold when at sea so ensure some warm clothes are packed.

Theory Courses

All theory courses - Shorebased are run in the classroom which is located in containers in Przystań Cesarska above the office.  You will need to bring a notepad, pencil, ideally B2 and pen with you.  Alternatively, we can provide a Theory Handipack for £10.  This is available from your Instructor on your first day in the classroom.

You can also purchase navigation tools such as plotter at 15 Euro and dividers at 20 Euro from your Instructor on the first day of the course.

RYA Logbook & recommended reading

All students should have an RYA Sail Cruising Logbook (G158). These are available to buy on arrival at Sailpro School of Yachting for 10 Euro. We also recommend the RYA Competent Crew  / Day Skipper practical course notes book. These are available to buy from Sailpro School of Yachting on arrival for 15 Euro.

Additional Expenses

Flights, transfers and travel insurance are not included in your course costs. Most students prefer to eat ashore in the evenings, so you will also need to purchase some meals.

Will I sleep on board overnight?

Yes, our sailing courses are fully residential. Sleeping on board is all part of the adventure of yachting and is also part of the course. Please bring your sleeping bags.

Are there toilet & showering facilities on board?

Our training yachts are equipped with a shower and toilet. Every evening involves an overnight stop at a marina which provides these facilities ashore.

Do I need travel insurance?

We recommend that you take out a Travel Insurance policy that covers sailing.
